Being brought up on a farm, then working as a partner in a City of London practice next to the Royal Courts of Justice, has proved to be an excellent grounding for practising law in the Cotswolds.

Since joining Nicholas Tanner, when we bolted our practices together in 1993, it has been a pleasure to be a part of Tanners as it has grown to meet the needs of its widespread clients. 

Litigation and commercial work experience has proved surprisingly useful when helping with the sometimes challenging issues that can arise in private client work.

These have included:

• trusts
• succession in complicated businesses and estates
• contentious probate
• philanthropic projects
• important asset disposals (e.g. classic cars, stamps, rare paintings etc.) and
• inheritance tax planning.

The much reduced commute, gained by working locally, enables me to walk dogs daily in beautiful countryside, and to play a part in charitable trusts and village life.
