PartnerAt 18, as I pondered the various undergraduate degree choices before me, I felt that law offered me a chance to use my love of words in helping others. I studied at Northumbria University, that being one of the few places where I could complete an English law degree at the same time as obtaining a degree in French law. The latter was obtained after some preparatory work in the Toon followed by a full academic year at the Université d’Orléans. Happy memories.
I came to Tanners on qualifying as a solicitor in 2006 and am privileged to advise a wide range of clients about all kinds of “long-term planning”. Making a will or power of attorney takes time and involves difficult decisions; I offer friendly and honest advice and guidance. I enjoy making arrangements that just “feel right” for all concerned. Most clients have a tie with England, but a good few live abroad and require advice that provides co-ordination with overseas lawyers.
I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). I am also a keen researcher who enjoys grappling with complex questions of law, particularly in respect of inheritance tax and powers of attorney / mental capacity.
When completely disconnected from the law, I enjoy parenting, flying my kite, reading sci-fi, membership of my local church, watching period dramas, seeking out new music…
